Cross my words

0bsessions:
Clue: Exclamation uttered after an individual makes a witty remark at another's expense
Answer: Zing

Cartilage Head:
Now for some serious ones.

Clue: Needs a lot of sulfur to grow.

Word: Watermelon.

Clue: Bill Clinton in 1998.

Word: Impeached.

I am proud of the second one, for it has the same number of letters as "President".

Barmymoo:
They're mostly non-cryptic really, because I have no hope of coming up with enough cryptic clues each month.

I've got the following so far, the worst will be ditched if I can get better replacements:

barrier / Impedes progress.
cheek / Insolence.
traffic / Heavy in a rush.
demotion / A downward shunt.
spatula / Flattened kitchen utensil.
protect / Keep safe.
expedition / Well-planned adventure.
doubt / Uncertainty.
banana / Yellow snack for primate.
conundrum / Percussive problem.
moment / A brief period in time.

Edit to add: thanks for the serious ones, I don't think the Clinton one would work though because we're a UK college and honestly no one knows much about anything.

Patrick:
Clue: something I'd love to stick in Jon's ass
Answer: foot

Bonus since Jon, being none the wiser, would probably think 'dick' since they've got the same number of letters.

--- Quote from: Josefbugman on 20 Jan 2009, 12:49 ---Cryptic one: the fatted gooses last reward
Answer: froise grois

--- End quote ---

I hate to be a picky little picker of things, but I think it is 'foie gras' and also that in cryptic clues you generally have to be using all of the words (except the part that is the meaning) in the building of the rest of the clue.

Say for example: "A painted line for muddled priest."
Answer: "Stripe"

I only say on account of I have something of a cryptic crossword addiction. Like... I cannot get through a shift at work without a copy of the Times cryptic. I just can't.
