Eek, I really hope everything turns out ok! Is this the first time he's had to be taken by ambulance? Why the fuck did he have to wait that long for them to arrive?! Ambulances are for emergencies, for crying out loud!

Ha. Hahahahahaha.
I applied online on March 14th.
My mum and her partner sent off the forms to support my application on March 16th, along with all the information requested.
On April 14th they got a letter asking for more information which hadn't been requested. Heaven only knows what they'd been doing with my application for that month (shredding it, would be my guess) but once all the information had been found, which required letters to accountants and solicitors and so forth, they sent it off in May some time.
It's been four weeks now and we still haven't heard anything. Now Cambridge are getting shirty because they haven't had copies of certain forms which I haven't had yet, and also because I missed a deadline submitting something to them (that part was my fault).
We just rang them up and after being on hold for fifteen minutes, got through to someone incredibly unhelpful who apparently hung up on us. Then we rang again and another person answered, saying "the computer system is down, ring back next week".
Next week is no use. I need to know now why they are so incompetent. Apparently it takes 6-8 weeks to put any information on the system, regardless of when you started trying to sort it. If they had asked for all the information they needed in one go, back when I applied the first time, we would have had this sorted out by the end of April.

That was incompetent use of computers back in the 1970s, let alone now.

Thanks Rachel. It's not the first time, but it's the first time in a long time, I would think the first time since his operations several years ago. As for why we had to wait, I think you hit it on the head. He may have been in a hell of a lot of pain but he was in no real danger, not that that makes it any mroe forgivable to me.
A DVD of Love Actually, a quickly consumed pack of TimTams and a bottle of apple juice has impoved my mood however.
