Uh, I meant to post this yesterday, but my weekend has passed me by in a haze of partying, dancing and substance abuse.
Happy Valentines day! It is Salmonella growing in the shape of a love heart.

So today, just six days after my grandmother's memorial service, my mother filled the bathtub, prepared a dish with two knives and a barbecue fork (?), and took twenty-five sleeping pills.
Luckily, she fell asleep before she reached the bathtub to slit her wrists. My brother got home from tae kwon do, figured out that something was wrong, and called my father at work--the paramedics rushed my mom to the hospital and pumped her full of charcoal. She is just beginning to wake up. When she recovers physically, I expect that she will spend at least a couple of weeks in the psychiatric hospital. This is her third serious suicide attempt in my lifetime.

Maybe we should start a club. The "Please can our lives be better, please???" Club. This years club goal: Have a moderately ok year. We aren't asking much. Not even good. Just moderately ok.
