Dear blog thread,

My girlfriend and I were making out and I kinda went for some boobage, which took her by surprise. She had a lit cigarette in her hand. Long story short, I now have a 1/2 cm wide blister about dead center of my right bicep. Normal contact doesn't hurt at all, squeezing it makes it sting like a bitch. Nothing that will drive me insane. Poor girl is beating herself into a pulp over it, though, despite what I tell her. Achso.

Speaking of my girlfriend, the journalist from the Albanian equivalent to TIME Magazine (Koha Jonë, literally "Our Time") asked me about her in an interview. I told her the true story, but she decided to make up a story about how I left Tara for her. In actuality, there was a 3 week spread between the breakup and me even meeting my new lady for the first time. *sigh* They're trying to paint me as a bedwetting Romeo type. I guess I just have to take the position of P.T. Barnum or something.

Love,
Me!

blog,

I went out tonight and it was fun, but about an hour ago the alcohol I'd drunk hit me like a ton of bricks and I got well hot and now, I just feel a bit sick, but not at all drunk. I can't even put this down to the painkillers I'm on because I haven't taken any in over 24 hours so that I could drink tonight. I think I am becoming a lightweight and it's horrible. Either that or there's still some painkillers in my system from yesterday, I can't be sure. Anyway, the people from my work are lovely in a social setting and I wish we could go out some more before I move but that probably won't happen. :(
Oh yeah, I also move in 6 weeks so that's exciting I guess.

Dear Phone company,

Please stop calling me and trying to get me to change my plan or get my home phone onto your company. I am happy with my plan. If I wanted to change it I would go to my local optus shop and ask about it. Also, if I say I will not use a data plan, please do not just try and put me on one anyway "just in case". I don't look at the internet on my phone, so don't assume that now I can I will.

You are calling me basically every day and I am ignoring your calls but it is getting to be rather annoying. Stop it.

Hannah
The monopoly phone company around here, in an attempt to reshape their business (read: rebrand/rebadge their crap) has changed their name to LIME (Landline, Internet, Mobile and Entertainment)- the irony and jokes...- and once when their crappy internet service went down, I called and had them fixed it over the weekend. This was about 1 and a half months ago.

They still call me every week asking about how satisfied I am with the repair. In fact, they called me today asking me to take the survey.

In other news:

I'M FREAKING BORED!

Dear blog,

I know I've been talking about work most of the times I've been there, but I am a boring person and don't do much outside of work. But today I was painting with D, my new coworker, and we were alone in the store most of the day (art supplies aren't the hot commodity right now) painting and talking and D is really a pretty cool dude. I've hung out with R, the framer, before and the three of us may go to this thing called Cincinnati Guerilla Queer Bar on Friday. (It's this monthly thing where the gay community takes over a straight bar that you don't know where it's going to be until the day of - the last Friday of every month. It's good times.) I've never really hung out with people I've worked with before until I had this job (friends I've worked with does not count), so this is kind of cool! I'm really happy that I have a job where I genuinely like everyone I work with.

Had a pretty bad anxiety attack in public today. In the Orleans County Mental Health building, no less.

So they realized I'm pretty fucked up and I now am going to be seeing a therapist and psychologist and all sorts of wonderful people who will tell me, in kind words, to calm the fuck down. The woman I talked to said I have signs of being bipolar and schizo-something. Not schizophrenia, something else. Also, since I have no insurance and make about 400-500 dollars a month, I only have to pay five dollars a session.

The woman gave me 10 dollars though because I have no money and no food and she felt bad for me. I cried when she did. I'm going for food stamps tomorrow...and I really loathe the thought of living my life like this.

And now for the angry double post:

I've finally decided to sit down and start actually doing some damn recording for once. My roommate, knowing this, has decided that now is the perfect time to stomp around outside of my room and swish his fucking lightsaber toy with sound effects around.

I'm going to fucking kill him.

A new library just opened in my suburb and I am using one of the brand spanking new computers that probably has never been used before and god it is so slow and the graphics are terrible and every time I go to do something, even open a new window, the operation is locked.
Come on, library. Come on.

On the upside they have a bunch of old Doctor Who DVDs and all BBC miniseries and stuff so that is pretty cool.

Today it occurred to me that I'm an adult with a job, a house and credit cards etc and thus, there's really nothing to stop me from buying big fuck off tubs of sweeties like you get in candy stores online. I could legitimately have my own goddamn penny sweet stall in my own home. I'd probably save money in the longrun anyhow.

Blog Thread!
Today has been interesting. I thought I was going to lose my job, but I didn't... and everyone was actually happy to see me! That hasn't happened in the entire time i've worked there, and i've been there nearly a year. I also found out today that when one of my managers was 17, she had an affair with a P.E. teacher and snorted coke off a desk in a hotel room he'd rented for them both. I also learnt that she's not ashamed of this, nor that she tried to ruin his life when he called it off.  I thought that only happened in bad tv dramas.

Side note: I am going to buy so many sweets from that website, goddamn.

So in the span of about 5 IMs, 2 text messages, and half an hour, I just nailed down 3 or 4 really excellent DJs to play my birthday party this Saturday, and then got something like 10 of my friends excited for it, and I've still got the rest of the week to ask people to come and I've barely even tried yet.  I get free publicity because it'll be the afterparty to a show that's already happening in the same house, and so I get to co-opt the crowd of Baltimore kids who were already going to come up to Philly to see a hip-hop/performance art/garage rock show, and everyone will be thrashing the basement party jams until sunrise.

That was easy.  I didn't want to start hyping it until I knew I had some DJs and I had a green light from the house, and that last bit happened Saturday, so today I went ahead and started shooting to make it happen, and it instantaneously materialized with laughably little effort.  I am beginning to get really surprised by how many cool friends I have.

People in the Philadelphia area are invited, by the way.  This Saturday the 30th, 3914 Spruce on the UPenn campus.  I think there's a 5-dollar cover for the show that happens before I commandeer the PA for dancing.

In other news, last night I got to shoot my friends with a Nerf gun that ejects cartridges lever-action style and looks like a BAR.  It was sweet.

Blog thread,

I've had no motivation at work for over a week now.  Usually I at least PRETEND to get work done, but I just can't bring myself to even do that.  I have deadlines to meet and people who rely on me to do my share and I know I should do it.  I don't want to let anyone down, but every time I go to begin a project, I get distracted by something stupid and make excuses to myself and don't get anything done.  It's not that I can't focus on anything, because I can.  I just don't.

On a brighter note, my kid was cute today when I was dropping her off at preschool.  She started sniffling and I asked her where her brave face went. (she's not used to the new place yet)  Apparently, we had to go look for it and we found it behind a rock.  Whew!  Can't go to preschool without that darn brave face.  It was frickin adorable.

Maybe she's my problem at work?  I just want to go home and play.

i got back from Sasquatch Festival yesterday and holy shit was it awesome. i was only there for two days but it felt like a week and now i am sunburned and exhausted. it was easily the hardest i have ever partied without drinking any alchohol whatsoever.

how awesome was it? well, i went to a dance party in the back of a short bus. there were about twenty people crammed into a little tiny school bus meant to hold like, ten people at the most and we were all dancing our faces off to Animal Collective, doing serious damage to bus's shocks. it was great.

oh yeah, there were bands too: Deerhoof, Girl Talk, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Gogol Bordello, BLK JKS, Tobacco, Of Montreal.

they were all fucking awesome.

what a good weekend.

Blah Thread,

So it looks like the summer job I have been greatly looking forward to (and maybe bragging to all my friends a little) has fallen through, because the company that had promised to hire me back for seasonal work over summer cannot afford to pay for more help right now. I can see how the private aircraft business might not be shining in this economy, but gosh darn it. Now I have to go out and find work like a normal person  :x

Dear Blog Thread,

I'm back momentarily, with a recap of stuff that has been happening with my girlfriend.

A little background: in the past three years she's had two surgeries done on her spinal cord to remove tumors that came about as the result of VHL syndrome, a genetic defect where a tumor-fighting gene is mutated, leaving the human body prone to tumor growth. While they are not cancerous, they can cause serious harm if left unchecked--my girlfriend's first surgery removed a spinal cord tumor two days before it would've killed her. As a result she's been in a powerchair since then; she can walk but only with the help of a walker, and even then not for prolonged periods of time.

Recently she's been having trouble swallowing, which could be a sign of neurological problems. Just this Monday it got to the point that she could not take her medications, so she had to go up to the hospital (two hours away from home because they have a great spinal surgery ward) to find out what's wrong. Good News: according to the MRIs done on her, there's nothing that requires surgery. Bad News: the doctors still don't know the cause behind her difficulty swallowing. They want to run a CAT scan on her as well as a Barium X-Ray, so I'll wait on the results of that. In the meantime, I'm going to try to get out of the house for a bit, try to have some fun with friends but still be able to leave at a moment's notice should anything come up.

Please keep sending good vibes her way (or pray, if you happen to be religious).

All the best,
Christopher

That sounds really worrying and I hope things turn out ok quickly, I know how worrying it can be when you don't know what is wrong (my mum had to go for several brain scans after she blacked out several times, once whilst driving and once whilst using a chainsaw) but keep your chin up, modern science is frankly amazing and even if there is something fairly serious wrong, I'm sure they will find it and be able to sort it out eventually.

Today I was in work at two for some training (surprisingly fun! And well-timed, I've been working there long enough that I'd begun to get jaded and it's good to be reminded that the whole point is to be there for the customers. I will stop being annoyed when people want to come through my till while I'm cleaning it or ask me questions when I'm just walking through) and then I did a couple hours of work to make up my hours for this week. Somehow my shift goes about three times as fast when Supermarket Girl is in (I took my training today because she was also doing training, and then worked this evening because she was)(I am a creepy stalker) which is good but also bad because I don't see her enough :(

And so much for seeing the boy. He gave a couple of vague excuses yesterday from "I'm not really a morning person" to "I'm not sure what I'm doing on Friday" when really what he means is "I'm thinking of getting back with my ex and you're not really interesting enough to make me change my mind". Ah well.

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

ugh. so a few years ago my dad put all of my music onto a buffalo drive in his study. I wasn't too happy about it cause this made no sense to me at the time (he told me the music was making my computer run more slowly but I only had about 1000 songs at the time and I so don't think this was the case). the buffalo drive went down a lot and whenever my mom was in the room, she'd turn it off cause it buzzes and she doesn't like noise, meaning that all my music would be inaccessible for that time. (I have an ipod but it does not have all of my music on it and I can't add new music when the buffalo drive isn't working.)

recently the drive has been super broken, and I basically haven't had use of my itunes for a week or two, so my dad decided to give me a temporary hard drive to put my music on. unfortunately a lot of my music has completely disappeared in the process of transferring - I'm talking thousands of songs.

I don't know why, because I'm sure I can find this music again, but having lost so much of it (hours and hours went in to finding and obtaining this music) makes me so upset. so much effort will be involved in tracking it all down and downloading again. it's especially painful when my favorite songs cannot be found.

wahhh.

I just won an iPod in a drawing of people who responded to a library survey at my school!  I almost deleted the email, because the subject line was "CONGRATULATIONS iPOD WINNERS" just like every other spam message I get (y'know, all the ones that aren't "Penis Enlargement Pills" or "hello i am pretty russian girl bored tonite").

I think I will sell it and buy a decent bike.

oh ally, that is like one of my worst fears. Okay it is not a worst fear but it is a pretty big fear! music is basically all i do. if you need me to upload anything though i am here! with broadband!!!

TODAY is graduation, oh shits.

My best dude friend (whom i have kind of had a minor crush on for the past two years but it's okay) is leaving at the end of this month to go to West Point and I am going to miss him more than he'll ever know and he's going to be all in the ARMY and it's going to be super INTENSE and when he comes back he'll probably have found an actually useful vocation and we probably won't start that band we've been meant to start. I don't even get a full summer with him. I am sad. He is the most extraordinary person I've ever met and he is going to go so far in life, and I just hope I'll still be able to be in a part of his life, for at least a little while.

I am very confused about my relationship with this girl, she hurt me incredibly but now we seem to be getting along better than we have been, strangely. Maybe it is because I don't want to touch her anymore which has probably altered the dynamic and now this is closer to what an actually normal friendship would be like with her which i have never experienced before

you know what, what the fuck ever it's summer, it is time not for thinking but for rocking and for being a delinquent.

After I had bought my lunch today a man approached me outside the sub shop. He said his name was Moses and that he was staying in the shelter down the street with his wife and kid and asked if I could buy him lunch. I know that someday I might need someone to buy me lunch, so, I told him that we could go over to taco bell and that he should get like 10 or 15 dollars worth of food. I didn't care if he was conning or not, I don't know either, I bought a stranger lunch because he asked me to, and I told him good luck, he thanked me a lot of times for it. I feel pretty good.

Hi bloggggg.

I have managed to get an internship at the Sydney Morning Herald! This is pretty great news, as it's one of Australia's big papers that hasn't yet completely sunk into tabloid scum. Also, they only took three people from our uni for interviews, so I was not at all sure of getting one. So yeah... phase 2 of plan Become A Journalist is going well (phase 3 is buy a fedora and develop a drinking problem).

Also, everyone was pretty much right about that girl I was whining about in the relationship advice thread, so uh... top job, guys. She said she used to like me a fair bit, but now only comes onto me when drunk, and is all kinds of confused. Which is great to know, because now I can pursue other Romantic Interests I've been putting off a bit.

Also also, I came home last night and there was a DVD of Twilight on the table. I watched it with my housemate, and now I feel a little dirty.

I don't think he would've been conning you... people don't usually ask for food. I think you did the right thing, anyway.

Yeah, big ups.

Went to see Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction yesterday. Jane's was pretty good I think, all the musicians in the band are highly proficient and Perry Farrell, while being something of an irritating doofus in real life, makes a pretty good rock and roll frontman. Stephen Perkins had a jumbotron camera set up in his kit and he looked directly into it whenever he played the cowbell, which was pretty fun. I love that man. It was a bit cold so Dave Navarro wore a shiny vest instead of going shirtless.

NIN was actually sort of boring. The first few times I saw them they were roaring (roaring/boring ho ho ho) but this was the sixth time and they seemed pretty beat. Not much energy.

Also Fiddler's Green is an awful venue.

I just spend the last forty-five minutes FLIPPING THE FUCK OUT because I lost a borrowed screwdriver and basically went into Hannelore-panic mode for awhile and was pretty much hyperventilating and close to screaming and crying

When I found it I laughed so hard my throat is now hoarse.

Can haz medication?

Got the rest of my grades today. 4 As and an A- this semester, so a 3.965 CUM GPA for my first year at new college. I'm pretty happy with that!
