It's amusing, too, but it has that reset moment that's a little offsetting. You can't just sway to it.

If I could go back in time the Avalanches would be one of the bands I would see, and tell my past self to go see as well.  Shit, maybe I'd drag him out with me.  I saw them one time not so long ago and they were still one of the best acts I've ever seen.  To see them back then around the time the album was released would have been great.

I think my brother realised when I went and did some washing how frustrated I am getting in this house. There were three containers of washing liquid that I tried to use that were empty just sitting next to the washing machine, and I think I may have just held my head and gone "Oh god this houuuuuse" before finding some powder to use.

He then went and started washing dishes, all by himself. I kinda want to be proud of him, but he should be doing this anyway, the lazy fuck.

Chris, the good vibes are streaming from here, man. But you knew that. Still, reaffirmation of vibes is nice.

Dear blog thread,

I won my battle handily last night, and I am now in the SEMIFINALS FUCK YES. Downside: one of my favorite people on the show got kicked off. The Macedonian girl. Yes, the one I cuddled with. She was a sweetheart and everybody adored her but she kinda really can't sing very well. She wasn't even upset at getting kicked off the show, she was just upset at having to leave all her friends. I respect the fuck out of that.

I did not get any sleep last night because my shit-hot friend's shit-hot older sister was in the same bed as me last night and the only thing stopping us from ripping the clothing straight off each other and having me drill her like the Saudi Arabian desert was the fact that the shit-hot friend was sleeping in the couch right next to where we were. SPAQIAAAA

Love,
Me!

Dear blog thread, since last time I've stepped in shit. I mean real, human shit. I stepped in it. Because some fuck had left his shit on the floor in front of the bathroom stalls, in front of the sinks, and I don't usually start checking the floor before I get close to the actual toilet.

That happened once in the restroom at the store I worked at (though I didn't step in it). WTF is up with that? At least the urinal deuces (4 times during my tenure) made sense in a you-gotta-be-fucking-kidding-me way.

Jealoussssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Uh ok, let's edit this and add in what I am up to.

Yesterday and today I have been trying (failing) to study for the next step in my Desktop Support Dood certification process.  Yesterday it was because I got up, turned my alarm off & woke up at 1pm, which threw my entire day out and made me feel awful.  Today it's because I took a sleeping tablet last night to try to get to sleep at a reasonable hour and woke up when I wanted to but felt jetlagged for the entire day.  But mostly it is because I don't really want to do this shit, it is just something I feel will help when I start looking for jobs next week.

So now I don't know if I'll be able to study to an acceptable enough degree in order to pass the exam on Monday.  I guess I could put it off a couple days, but like, that would mean I wouldn't be looking for a job until later next week.  Decisions!

I once went to a toilet in John Lewis and somebody had smeared shit all over the floor and walls. It was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

Dearizzle Bloggie Threadizzles

Okay! So I was getting on the train after breaking up with my wife and as I walked to the back to get my regular seat, I allowed my hand to brush a girls thigh on the seat infront and we made eye contact. Man it was gonna be amazing, I assure you, if not for the fact we were on a train and I could tell we both were worried that banging the shit out of each other would distract driver and he'd run over an aged woman who is no longer able to arouse her husband who spends his days jacking it to internet porn, a comedian who has not changed up his act enough over the years and is fading into obscurity amongsts newer and exciting acts or washed up pop star that resorts to shopping in cheap stores like Jack Fultons or Nettos where people will still approach them for autographs. The drivers carriage was right infront of us and if he was watchin' us going at it, he wouldn't be watching out for people wandering onto the tracks to end their mediocre lives which is a shame because I woulda tore that shit up faster than my wedding vows.

I caught my reflection in the window next to my seat and admired that for a while. I gotta say, I looked really damn good in spite of little blood spats all over my shirt. Unfortunately, by the time the bastard sun got bright enough that I couldn't see my image anymore, that girl had gotten off the train. I guess she was too shy to give me her adress.
No ammount of sexual favours from all those teenagers back at my place with all their delightful curves and lack of clothing is gonna do a thing to make me feel better.
The mansion, the pool, Elvis Presley, the mountains of cocaine, the record deal, the oil company, Hawaii, apollo 11, george washington's teeth...no matter what I buy I am still kinda bummed out about this...

On an unrelated note, my wife fell into the path of an oncoming train today. I was unharmed.

You peasants gonna stop scurrying around for food and jobs for a second to show me some fucking sympathy?

Blaggy, I was supposed to apply for food stamps again today but recently I have gotten an insanely irrational fear of being around A) People B) Towns and C) Government Buildings so combining the three almost made me have a heart attack last time I went. Being turned down made it worse and I was shaking by the time I left. So when my alarm went off at last (I say that because every time I wake up in the middle of the night, I chcek to make sure my alarm clock is still on), I just got up and turned it off and went back to sleep and will find food some other way.

I really, really don't know how I'm going to go back to my job and deal with several thousand people a day. Fuck.

Plus side: I will be going to meet an internet friend today in meatlife. Should be interesting.

I just ogt back from seeing Cradle of Filth. There is a reason they are my favourite fucking band ever and oh man they were incredible. I got some awesome photos and god damn it is now one thirty am and I have to be up for work at six thirty but it was seriously the best show I've ever seen. I first heard them when I was 11 years old and my brother played me The Forest Whispers My Name and it was quite possibly the closest thing I'll ever have to a religious experience.

Tonight was worth the 12 year wait.

In other news I've had a headache for the past three days. This headache beats up other headaches and calls them sissies. This headache makes lewd phonecalls to your grandmother. This headache wants to return to the Golden Standard.

Imagining Sox post being narrated by Morgan Freeman made it all the better.  This tends to happen whenever I watch Ken Burns The Civil War.

One of my students called a "firstie" turning in his lab report.

I was going to tell him to go die of cancerAIDS, but decided it would be better to just leave it alone and mock him later.

Due to my dumbass landlord not fixing my leaky bathtub I now have toxic black mold growing in my apartment.  No matter how many times I clean it up with bleach cleaner it keeps coming back.  I read up on it and found out it won't go away for good unless I dry out my apartment and get that freaking leak fixed.

I HAVE to get that guy to understand that he is required BY LAW to do certain things other than collect a check every month.

He never even installed smoke detectors in the place.

I am moving into another apartment this summer.

The city or county might have something for testing if it really is that toxic mold. If it is, they very likely will shut down the entire building, they don't mess around with that shit.

Yesterday I moved into a new place, and it's fucking awesome! I like it so much more than my old place, especially since my new roommate is a friend from the department as opposed to a 50 year old half deaf Russian misogynist. Also, my ex, who is also my best friend started dating someone I already knew a few months back, but we've never really hung out because both of us figured it would be awkward. Since I needed a truck, and he's the only person who I know that drives one I had to ask both of them to help me with the move. We weren't awkward at all, which is awesome because I always liked him, but we never knew each other well.

The class I'm teaching ends tomorrow, and the students are turning in 4 lab reports plus their final. Since the other TA has been grading for the rest of the class all of this falls to me. My advisor, who is teaching the lecture portion of the course, informed me today that since he's leaving on monday to do his sabbatical I need to give him all of the grades by sunday. So, from today until sunday my time will essentially be spend imbibing large volumes of beer alone while grading (and who said the life of a grad student isn't glamorous?).

Today?

Fuck today.

I just spent 6 hours getting lost multiple times without any music in the car, ending up in the place where one of my good friends was shot to death, having my engine almost blow up (there's oil in the antifreeze tank, I think it's done), spent 40 dollars in gas, and did not get to meet my friend.

Today?

Fuck today.

I came home from my last day at work early because I am sick, and fell into a feverish midday sleep. I was woken by my phone ringing, and the number was unrecognised to I just picked it up and said hello.
"Hello, Ally?" said a very cute male voice.
"Hi!" I said, in some attempt at brightness.
"It's William, Happy Birthday," said the voice.
"Oh," I said, since I'd just woken up and needed to take stock of it, Is it my birthday? Maybe, I don't remember.
"Thankyou very much," I said. Do I know a William? No... wait it's not my birthday.
"Sorry did I wake you up?" William asked politely.
"Oh um," I dithered, Could this be a call from my new work? "Um um, uh, just a little bit."
"I'll call you back," he said.
I was still puzzling and just said "Hm."
"I'll call you back later," he said again.
"Okay!" I told him happily. "Bye!"
I hung up and went back to sleep.
When I woke up just now i wondered if it had actually happened, but the last calls on my phone say it did. I have been getting a lot of calls asking me for job interviews lately but since I've got a job now I can't accept them. Probably William was one of these. He probably asked me how was I today, not Happy Birthday for heaven's sake. Maybe he will call back. I am embarrassed.

So I never really used my school locker this year so it ended up looking like this by the end of the year.

I was really set on like, actually recycling everything in there but then I just kind of... left it. Sorry custodians! The custodians like to recycle anyway. I think at this point they'll be kind of tired though... shit that's a lot of redemption money lost right there. Fuck it.

William just called back.

He said Happy Birthday again.
I frowned. "Sorry, who is this?"
"It's William, Happy Birthday!"
"Who?"
"William, your cousin."
"Um." I bit my lip.
"Who is this?" He asked hesitantly. "Is it Ally?"
"Yeah, it's Ally."
"It's me, William, you cousin." He was starting to sound annoyed.
"I don't..." I was a bit lost. "I don't have a cousin... called.. that."
"Oh."

Well at least he's a really crappy stalker.

edit-
I was just about to post this:
I've been fighting with Maple for maybe three hours trying to get it to let me define the quantum angular momentum operator. The operator's got this (r x Del) term and I just can't get it to parse the bloody cross product. Well, I can, but then it breaks the dot product that I need later. I need to express Del as a free vector and I can't find how it's done.

When I got something that works for now. Maybe it'll break later but whatever. This'd be easier by hand I swear.

OK so I know it wasn't technically for me but that Elvis Costello album tommy posted is so good guys!

How much do y'all miss young, skinny, pissed off  and not-married-to-Diana-Krall Elvis Costello with a thin tie and a Jazzmaster, instead of whatever the fuck he is these days?

Guys! I'm kind of annoyed right now.

I'm a fairly happy person. I like to smile and all that jazz. Being happy's kind of a big deal for me because there was a long, long stretch of time when I was very unhappy and it was tough. One day I woke up and decided not to be sad anymore and it's worked out pretty well for me.

Everywhere I go and everything I do, I try to find the bright side. Right now I work in an office with 7 other students around my age, and though we don't work directly with eachother all the time, we're in the same space. This morning they've been really getting on my back because they think it's weird that I'm constantly cheerful, or smiling, or laughing to myself about something that I've read or remembered.

It just really bothers me that people would rather I be miserable to fit in, and that they don't know how hard it was for me to get myself to a place where I could be okay with just accepting and embracing my life.

They can go suck a dick.  Be happy!  Happiness is much more fun.

Bloggy,

I just had a phone interview and it went well!  I may have a REAL one set up next week.  =)

Misery likes its company. Misery's company is misery's preciousssssss

Blaggy,

I just called work now that I got ahold of a phone and told my supervisor I have no car now. He asked if it's temporary or permanent, and I'm not sure. He told me to call back in a few days and give him an update, but I don't think I'm going ot have a car by then.

The childish part of me is going, "Yippeeee! No more work!" The rest of me is going, "FUUUUUUUUCCCKKKKK!!!! No job, no car, no money, and no food! FUUUUUCKK!!!"

But right now I'm letting my childish part celebrate.

Also, someone just gave me a soundtrack to the Animatrix, and it's all rather techno-y trance-y shit that I am rather enjoying.

I used to get a lot of ragging about how I didn't smile enough and always looked really serious, so I started being happy a lot and I've had the same thing a couple of times. People just don't like it when someone reacts to something in a way they wouldn't react themselves. Don't let it bother you! Anyone who is cross that you're happy is either very, very selfish or a miserable scrooge who wants to spread as much misery as possible (or possibly just baffled by your cheer).

Well it's now been a week since I left college and in that time I have:

  • Done enough revision that I think I'll be ok
  • Worked a few extra hours at work (not many though)
  • Watched almost twenty hours of Sugar Rush reruns

I'm glad that I'm on the last episode now. I mean, it cannot be healthy to watch this many episodes of a TV drama in one go, not to mention the fact that that's twenty hours I did not spend doing any revision or sunbathing or basically anything at all. And I've yet to tell my mother that the reason the internet is so slow is that I've constantly got at least one streaming video loading at a rate of about 20 seconds of video every ten minutes (our internet is very slow).

Nevertheless I'm feeling pretty ok about my exams. I've realised that my goal has been to learn absolutely everything about everything and I hadn't, until today, attempted to answer any questions without using my notes. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I could remember of stuff I hadn't even known last week so clearly I'm doing something right.

That Boy hasn't got in touch though. I guess he prefers the french girl after all :(

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."
