Dear people previously interested in the idea of making your own radio station,
This is as much as I know. We're recording and transmitting from my friend's basement so I guess this is what you were looking for. We have an antenna, a transmitter, a mixing board, a signal exciter, microphones, cords, and obviously a method of playing music (a stereo or even a computer). Also if wanted is a compressor which you really do not need but it makes the transmission cleaner.
The microphone and music player are attached to the mixing board in the back in individual channels. The mixing board attaches to the compressor, which attaches to the transmitter, which (obviously) transmits sound. The signal goes to the antenna, which has the signal exciter in it, to make the signal travel farther.
From what I remember my friend told me the best option is to use a lower frequency in order to not be picked up by regular listeners and to "stay off of the grid" (her words, not mine).
