Dude the term "hipster" is way older than indie rock, it used to be another term for beatniks or for dudes who listened to Davis and Coltrane. It's been around since at least the 1950's. To say that it is a static term that refers to a very particular form of fashion is pretty short sighted. Look at any of those films from the nineties that major studios made to appeal to the "indie" crowd of that time and tell if the hipsters of 1995 look anything like the hipsters in last week's Vice and also oh shit i can't believe i got sucked into another one of these conversations hey let's explain to some hapless sap what "emo" really means now ok
