Fuck You, Animal Ghosts

pwhodges:
You don't go on having fun by doing the same things again and again, that's arrested development; there needs to be change or development of some kind.  As an outsider, my impression is that the inner core of regulars here has become too inward-looking and cliquey, rather a club within a club (the parallel existence of the Gabbly/Meebo group seems at times to be another divisive element in these forums).  Ask yourselves what reasons these groups have to exist other than inertia, and see where that takes you.

Gurkburk:
My first thought was that kieffer made this thread himself just to get more attention but then halfway in I realized it wasn't and that just makes it sad.

Paul at over a thousand posts I'd hardly consider you an outsider.

Cicero. Lurk more.

Patrick:
I think what he means is that he doesn't really give two shits about forum drama because, well, he's bright enough not to.

He's right about the whole Gabbletron/Meebo thing being a divisive element. I don't talk much (if at all, in some really sad cases) to most of those people because, well, they're content to talk among themselves elsewhere. Which is good for them, I'm not going to stop them, but it is SHIT for this forum. Wonder why all the interesting shit is gone? It's because it all got sucked into another place. The old regulars who would normally be posting cool shit on the boards have all pretty much left to post their cool shit on Meebo and ignore the boards.

Basically, if you guys are serious about making this place interesting again, kill Meebo and stop being anal about people getting chatty in threads. If people want to talk, let them talk. You don't kill a conversation in real life just because the topic changed, what makes the internet so special that you should do it here? If shit gets out of hand and becomes so exclusive that only two people are talking about it, THEN they take it somewhere more private.

Jace:
How about instead of killing meebo, we just also post here, much like I (and a good few of the other meeblers) do. Its a chat program, but not everyone uses it, so there is still a point to post.

Sox:
I stopped posting much because I got into a funk. It got none all to do with chat clients. Don't help none that I don't know who anybody is no more. I used to get all you guys, but now there's so many new faces I don't get shit at all. I also chose to start omitting so much detail about my personal life that I've had nothing to talk about. Okay, I'll change. After I've taken a shower.
