"Functional Alcoholism" is the trend on one side of my family, and in light of some recent developments I nearly poured out all the liquor in my house a week ago. I really hate the feeling of wanting/needing a drink, it's one of the scariest feelings I've ever had. I usually deny myself a drink when I feel like I need it, because I am scared shitless of how I might end up.
