Ballard:
I too interned at a local guitar shop, but the guys I worked with were burn-out Lower East Side hipsters who did nothing but mock inexperienced customers and start pissing contests with the ones who knew what they were talking about.

In fact everything there changes at a glacial pace so I'm quite certain that at this moment, as I'm typing this, those same four guys are sitting there, faking boredom a little more than necessary, drinking Guinness and trying to hawk vintage Les Pauls to people.

I did get to shoot the shit with Anton Newcombe (who was at the time and remains still my personal idol), and apparently I'd have met J Mascis and Nick Zinner if I'd stuck around for longer.

valley_parade:
Wait they get to hang out and drink on the job?

And mess about with guitars? That is a fuck of a job.

Ballard:
.. what did you think guitar salesmen did?
