Man you guys are such boring hipsters. There's more to being heavy as fuck than playing really slowly and turning your amps up. You also have to be awesome, and you must be able to headbang. This is essential. Here are some starting points, limited by youtube and my tiredness.

Proubly not what you're looking for, but when I want heavy stuff I usally like it thrash, angry and something I can mosh to.

With something like this I must plug A Sin For A Prayer. I lived beside the drummer for a while, and as far as I know they are still unsigned, but their recordings sound good.

For Power/nerdy Metal, I put Blind Guardian at the top, they are like Iron Maiden meets Queen with more tolkien references then you can shake a stick at. Their album "Nightfall in Middle Earth" is a retelling of The Silmarillion.

I don't listen to much metal so outside of saying bands I'm sure you allready have heard of (Pantara, Megadeth, System of a Down) thats all I got.
