I genuinely think Taking Back Sunday are a good band.

As popular as they became, i would not consider Taking Back Sunday a guilty pleasure, just like I wouldn't call listened to Brand New a guilty pleasure.

Well, Taking Back Sunday would definitely be a guilty pleasure to me because they're pretty much only liked by the teen indie crowd.

Brand New, however, are a great band anyway.

And i'm going to add The Spill Canvas to here for the same reasons as i would add Taking Back Sunday.

I've been known to pop in a Ween album from time to time. As well as MSI.
Oh come on, they're graphics cards are great.

Well i'm not a teen and definitely not part of the indie crowd. But i guess some people feel guilty about things that they shouldn't feel guilty about, cause TBS can still be listened too without feeling like a "teen indie" kid. IMO.

Beastie Boys
What's wrong with the Beastie Boys? The Mix Up is amazing. A lot of their b-sides are instrumental too.

Their rap isn't bad either.

MSI. For shame. (Me too)

Black Eyed Peas just came on at random and I still haven't changed it yet. :|

Actually, it's not entirely terrible.

I only know them as a GPU company...what band are you guys talking about :( ?

-----

As for me:

  • Vengaboys - "Sex on the Beach"
  • The Killers
  • OK Go (although I honestly only like their music videos)
  • HIM

I think that about covers it.

Here is their youtube channel.

Killers shouldn't be a guilty pleasure. Not for me anyway.

So many of these bands aren't even guilty pleasures at all. MSI? Is actually fantastic, both live and on record.

You know what's a guilty pleasure? TATU. But I friggin love it.

I also pretty much have a general love of anything produced in the nineties for nostalgic purposes. Sigh, the sweet simplicity of pre-adolescence

I was a card-carrying Hanson fan for all of my teenage years and I still have the urge to pop Middle of Nowhere in every couple of weeks. I listened to that album for hours on end every day for years, and I was mocked hideously for it back then... imagine if people knew now....

I am not guilty about any of my pleasures.

I have 22 bands listed under the "Pop Punk & Emo" genre in my iTunes, 10 under "Commercial Pop".  Mika, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41... I am totally okay with all of this.

Abba. Their sense of pop songcraft is quite impressive honestly. They made very whistleable music. It's just a shame they're so ridiculously awful.

Lily Allen.

I was going to mention her. she's fun though, I enjoy her latest album quite a bit.
The Killers are not a guilty pleasure. I just read an article about how they are so versatile because they are "mainstream" yet loved by the indie scene too. love love love Killers.
Ingrid Michaelson? Jack Johnson? Snow Patrol? I don't know, I love them. But people tell me I shouldn't. You just gotta learn to ignore those people, though.

I also enjoy Polka which puzzles anyone who finds out.

I have some old nu-metal and metalcore that isn't any good that I occasionally listen to out of nostalgia, but other than that my music listening is pretty guilt-free. If I really enjoy something, I'm not ashamed to say I do.

Taking Back Sunday & Brand New for me to.

I'm getting kicked out of Hardcore.

Lot's of cheesy Hip Hop like Ludacris etc. for dancing all slutty to at the end of the night.

I have a saved playlist of it.

Although I like calling them PROUD pleasures!

Occasionally I'll get shit for Aimee Mann or Dan Tyminski.

Usually, though, it's the Battlestar Galactica soundtracks that do me in. :-[

Is System of a Down guilty-pleasurish?  I mean, just the dash of Armenian music that they add to their own is enough to make it stand out from most of the other nu-metal out there.  Plus I think their vocalist has a fun voice.  Not necessarily good, and definitely irritating, at first listen, but fun.

Why should anyone feel guilty for listening to System of a Down? They're AMAZING.
And I really don't consider them Nu-Metal. Especially not with their last album.

Serj Tankian is amazing, at least.  That weasley guy has the voice of a thousand dying whos.

Mine is early Green Day.  I know a lot of people here who like their early stuff, but for me, it's so not myself to like them and listen to them as much as I do.  They're nothing like anything else in my library (Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, Okkervil River, etc.).

Yeah, okay, Dream Theater. The lyrics are so cheesy, but I can't help it!

Also, Debussy, Ravel, Godard, Saint Saens, etc. Classical music - which really isn't something I'm guilty about, but I get mocked for it.

I'd definitely say SoaD is a guilty pleasure, but certainly not for me.  I really don't like Serj Tankian.  Also, I saw him open for the Foo Fighters a year or two ago and for 1) the band name was annoying and 2) he was dressed in a white top hat & suit, and tried dancing and party-boying around the stage.  It was annoying.
