From what I heard, they dropped the kitsch and the satire thing in Starship Troopers 2 and, which is kinda disappointing. As interesting as the novel was, there was no way you'd be able to try to make a film adhere more canonically to it without making it extremely dull.

Seriously? They wear powered armor, jump for miles, throw handfuls of miniature incendiary grenades, and have shoulder-mounted nukes. How is it that addition of those would not make the movie awesome?

Iron Man can appromiximate those qualities yet the parts of the movie that concentrated just on his capabilities were arguably the boring parts.

He wasn't blowing up and/or frying giant bugs. Even if it didn't make the movie better somehow, it wouldn't make it worse.
