Shaolin:
Any genre? Irish folk music. Awesome. Barney from The Dubliners is a god with a banjo.

THIS. I play Banjo, and two songs inspired me to learn. For The Turnstiles was one of them, the other was Gun Street Girl by Tom Waits. Neither are bluegrass.

A Wet Helmet:
True Story:  My Dad had a banjo when I was a kid (me being a kid = the 70s and 80s).   About three weeks ago I asked my Mom where Dad's banjo is because I too have gotten a bit of a banjo boner lately.  She tells me that when my cousin came to visit them last summer, he asked if he could have it and my Dad gave it to him.

Two things-- a) How is it that the banjo sits in a basement for 20 years without anyone giving it a second thought and all of a sudden my cousin and I both have an interest in it at approximately the same time, and b) What does my cousin need a banjo for?  I don't want to make comments that will unintentionally offend anyone, except to say that banjo music doesn't fit into his lifestyle-- at all-- as far as I can tell.
