Man, why all the hate on Aeroplane? I don't understand it.

Personal story: I was given a burned copy of Aeroplane maybe 5, 6 years ago and enjoyed it immensely. Thought the album was brilliant, the story was very moving and felt the singer personally giving it his all. I had no idea who NMH were, who Jeff Mangum was; I'd never heard of them before a friend gave me the copy and told me I'd like it. I did - I thought it was a fantastic piece of work. Here's the key part of the story: I had never heard of Pitchfork, I never read (and still don't) Magnet, Paste, Blender, Rolling Stone, etc. I came to my own independent conclusion that Aeroplane was one of the best albums I'd ever heard up to that point. So why all the hate?

And Explosions in the Sky better beat fucking Joy Division, man. I'm going to be terribly upset if it doesn't. (More upset than when the Wrens didn't make it to the next round.) And also, Crane Wife sucks as an album, but I love the Decemberists. Takk... and ( ) are decent albums, but Ágætis Byrjun is by far their best album. (I can't believe someone actually nominated Med Sud... It's a big overproduced "meh".) Remember, the point of this competition is to pick the best overall album, not pick discs that have a few good tracks, a few ok tracks but we love the band so omg fanboi laws require me to vote for it!!! And really, Pet Sounds? Not all that great an album. Yeah it was revolutionary, their best work, blah blah blah, but it's just ok.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox. Sorry for getting personal, as I guess I'm kinda leading this project, but it's hard to be unbiased when you all are morons! (just kidding - only some of you are morons.)

Tough choices again: EitS vs. Joy Division, Bowie vs. Pixies
The red block reminds me: wouldn't be funny if Low made an Abum named David Bowie ?  8-)
