Music Show "Pilot"
Jimor:
Hi all,
I've been working for the past couple of month to produce a local music show for the cable access station here, and as a proof-of-concept, I just made a home-made pilot with camcorder and video editing software. The artist is one of the ones I have lined up for the real show, a fantastic local singer, Autumn Sky.
It's not perfect technically from my end, but I learned a lot that will help me on the real show, and I'm really pleased with how well it matches the vision of what I wanted. Of course, in the studio, there will be a full 3-camera setup with broadcast quality equipment and some skilled volunteers running it all, so it's only going to get better, particularly with the great musicians I have lined up already. :-D
Anyway, I present to you, Songwriter Sacramento.

That's awesome. Good job! Did you film it in your house? That would be cool if you could keep it that way, but I guess that's not very realistic.
Jimor:
Thank you. :-) We shot at her place. That's her art on the wall, btw, unfortunately, the video compression washes most of it out.
I think filming at the artist's house all the time would be really cool, but yeah, not always practical.
Local access is a great resource for musicians. 2 or 3 bands and their friends working together can provide more than enough crew, they train you to use really nice equipment for little or no cost, and there's usually options for doing studio work or remote shoots on gigs. What's nice these days is that your exposure just isn't limited to the access channel. Usually once you've fulfilled the commitment to let them air the show, you can put the clips up on youtube or myspace etc, and since you're starting with broadcast standard footage, it will stand out among all the other clips online.
celticgeek:
Definitely very cool. And I like the singer/songwriter, too. I'm wishing you very good luck with this project.
Iechyd Da!
michaelicious:
What other artists do you have lined up, or is that top secret?
