Dora's absence could also motivate some drama at the CoD.

Like this: Vacation Plans???

See? Lot's of opportunities for drama. Sadly, nothing ever came of it.

Oh really? Who would Dora leave in charge?
Faye is 'senior' barista, but can she run the place?
Penny seems the most reliable person, but she is the most recent hire. And she had these rants...
Raven. Bwahahaha!
Wait. Sven could keep an eye on the place. He's responsible. Bwahahaha! and Bwahahaha! again.
Keebbles:
Group Trip?
Only Group Trip that might happen is if Tai really pushes things and drops (accidentally or not) a stack of acid papers into a coffee machine, leaves them laying about and everyone working in store helps with advertisement flyers and bill mail preparation for the mailman. (what a surprise he'll have coming when he arrives for pick up!)
Then everyone at store goes on a little trip, altogether now...(cue Beatles) - when they come down Tai's confronted and either has to Grow or go...
Hannelore doesn't seem to trip or notice it, as she sees things all the time from being up days at a time, only now everything makes sense and she's not afraid...she actually reaches out to feel the fluffy critters and Not even Dora (even though Faye wants to) will elt anyone show Hannie what she really was touching and feeling as she wandered through the customers (some likely dosed too.)
Cops show up later and ask if they have any of the "Special" coffee left, as work's getting boring and they want to make it more interesting.
QC group gathers to watch Cops next week and isn't sure if it's Reno 911 or the Local Finest at work!
- just an odd 1 am, 101.7 fever induced train of thoughts and what ifs...and narry a closet android reference (cept dat one.)
Gah, goto the VA to see a doctor, get exposed to all the sick people and come home with new interesting meds and the flu. Life's a great road trip and Murphy's driving in the wrong lane.
Post script thought- Hmm. If someone explained Murphy's Law to Hannelore and how even though imaginary he's real enough when you have plans or just aligned that last M&M correctly after segregating them by color before your midnight snack. Die M&M's DIE!
Also I want to see a Hannelore "GOT MILK" moustache, even if it's with a frappe/cappuccino that she doesn't notice for a while until she smiles at a guy, freezes her face and then runs to the bathroom to see if she smiled correctly- and the horror a foamy moustache!

You, sir, are depraved. We've had more than enough of these travesties, and you want moar?

I would think that the planning for a Road Trip Story has been written by Jeph, on a post-it note.
Then placed at the bottom of a stack of papers which were filled with concepts for other more important things
which were eventually loaded into a cardboard box
and placed in the corner of a deep and cavernous basement never to be seen again...
UNTIL
As Jeph has explored every single interesting concept of a story in the history of humankind, and sits in the depths of his cavernous basement, frantically searching for any sign of inspiration that can bring life to a world dying from lack of a storytale, he finds a faded scrap of yellow sticky paper covered in dust which contains the words "marten and co go out for a vacation trip lol stupid". And then he will use the idea to fashion one last desperate futile attempt to revitalise civilisation.
In other words, no.
