I do love a new purchase
Koremora:
Getting rid of CDs is just the absolute epitome of stupid. MUCH better to do as Constellation Records does and reward you for purchasing the more expensive vinyl by including the CD version with it. Vinyl is great as a fetish object, or for those that prefer the sound. However, the vast majority have much more use for a musical object that can be used in a large variety of portable devices, and can easily have the music contained within ripped to a computer. Vinyl does neither of these things.

But then you didn't purchase them.

if it weren't for the length, i'd almost wanna sig-quote this, because you've just summed up EXACTLY why i prefer CDs to vinyl, way more concisely and eloquently than i could manage.

a) You just described the .mp3.
b) A lot of turntables now have USB outputs, and using programs like Audacity, ripping vinyl to digital is frighteningly simple these days.
