-old book smell
-lilac smell (light purple kind, specifically--that smell means spring!)
-when someone you see all the time but don't know walks by and you're humming the same song (Two Gallants-Steady Rollin')
-cute boys finding you just to chat
-driving my car with the windows down and my hair flyin' all crazy
-the sound of rain on the roof of my lake cabin (each raindrop is like THWOMP THWOMP THWOMP)
-bein' all twitterpated at the beginning of a new relationship
-compliments from strangers
-coworkers who make you like going to work, because you get to see them
-hanging out with my mommy just to hang out
-birthdays!
-the part where you're almost done with the book but it's so exciting and fantastic and you can't put it down because you NEED TO KNOW what happens to the characters and how is it going to end OH MY GOD
-Riding my bike along the river path-you go under like three train tracks and it's so cool and there's animals all over
-tug of war with a puppy

These things. A million times these things.

- The nervous feeling you get before playing a show, and the satisfaction of overcoming that and kicking ass
- Being appreciated, recognized, or compensated for your art which you created for yourself
- Smoking a joint while taking a bubble bath
- Ice cold bubble tea on a scorching hot day
- Red velvet cupcakes
- Working up a sweat while biking in the breeze

kinda weird, but it makes me feel all warm inside.  i've spent the last hour listening to all The Replacements' slower, laid-back melancholy songs.

helping her learn to walk
making funny faces
hysterical baby giggles
dancing to all the noise-making toys
replying to baby talk like it's a really serious conversation

When it is a beautiful day around you but you are feeling a little down, and nothing in the world seems particularly great, but as you walk through the beauty unnoticing you see a pretty person smiling, and it is a real and true smile, and even though it might not be at you you are infected with their happiness, and suddenly everything that seemed a bit dull and boring and mundane becomes bright and cheerful and generally awesome, and all the crapness is forgotten for a moment and you just smile too. This is probably my favourite thing.

Actually, just smiles in general. When someone is smiling and they really mean it. That's pretty awesome.

Also, when you find your passport in the crisps.
