I agree with this. I think it's difficult to avoid on a forum of people who seem pretty well educated on (and interested in) the context and history of the music they listen to. I guess that makes us uncomfortable calling some of our personal favourite albums "the greatest albums of all time" and instead choose albums that are considered more canonical or influential.
I am guilty of this. I nominated Things We Lost in the Fire even though Secret Name is my favourite Low album. I just wanted to see them make it into the competition, and I am happy that they made it so far.
Thrillho:
Hey, I nominated my favourite records, but I can distinguish between which is my favourite and which I consider the best ones, for the most part. Doesn't mean I'm right, mind.
But I honsetly consider Dylan an all-time great, and that record is in his top 3, if not the best, so I've got no problem with it.

Yeah. The distinction between "Favorite Music" and "Best Music" is a muddy line, if it's a line at all. Is not your favorite what is best to you? Or can our musical appreciation go beyond what we ourselves prefer?
Fuck that. Abstention from the Championship. Of the four that were in round 5, I would've probably picked Abbey Road.
