The Terrible Covers Thread!

how dare a band I don't like cover a band I like I can't ever unhear this entirely forgettable version of a classic song I love
--- Quote from: spoon_of_grimbo on 02 May 2009, 06:04 ---oh, and if there's one thing worse than those chumps covering something, it's when a possibly-even-worse band cover them. ladies and gentlemen, presenting a bunch of welsh cack-wizards called The Blackout, covering Limp Bizkit's "My Generation." Apparently they've just signed to Epitaph records, so sadly we'll probably be hearing a lot more from them soon

Woah this is great it sounds exactly like the original
Seriously though when I was fourteen My Generation was a great song to get really mad to and I think it would be unfair if an entire generation of incompetently furious teenagers were denied the opportunity to get all worked up for no reason to so I am glad this apparently Welsh band has decided to fill that vacuum.

I mean, lets face it, nobody ever got hurt in a Limp Bizkit moshpit
spoon_of_grimbo:
if you wanted a limp bizkit song to get mad to, surely the best choice would be "break stuff"? asses being skinned raw with the proverbial chainsaw and all that?
to be fair, i still occasionally listen to LB's more laid back songs. "rearranged" isn't bad. i maintain they were a perfectly competent and decent band, but were dragged down by a terrible vocalist/lyricist and entirely pointless DJ.
also, i just stumbled across this: Scarlett Johansson covering Jeff Buckley's "Last Goodbye."
i'd question the point of ever covering a Jeff Buckley song anyway, as i don't think it could ever hope to be as good as the original. i do quite like the piano arrangement in that cover, but it's slowed down a little TOO much, and her vocals really don't fit at all.

Ska cover of Waiting Room? DICK YOU IN THE MOUTH, DOVEY
No one's clicked on my other link? A link containing a cover of "Stars" so bad that the other members of Hum think to themselves, "What have we done?"

Anyone who hopes for this when recording a cover of a song is a fuckwit, that is not really the point of the exercise.
PS Break Stuff was pretty good when I was twelve but as I matured and entered my teen years I yearned for a more mature nu-metal anthem of rebellion.
