Anyone who hopes for this when recording a cover of a song is a fuckwit, that is not really the point of the exercise.

I guess "as good as the original" isn't the right way to put it - but in doing a cover, you'd aim for it to be as interesting as the original.  And the amount of emotion and mystery in and around Buckley's music more of less makes that goal impossible.

Wait I just remembered Less Than Jake did a cover of Cheap Trick's "Surrender."

It was okay as far as I remember.

Fuck you, Megadeath.

What on earth are you talking about? Megadeth improved that song tenfold while parodying it.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be parody. Mustaine was too stoned at the time. He just didn't know all the words.

That one covers album by Metallica, oh boy was that a laugh.

Jimor:
One former coworker loved ABBA. One time I played an 80s mix at work with "Safety Dance" on it. He expressed at length how much he HATED Men Without Hats.

So next time I brought in a mix with their cover of "SOS" to torture him.
