Rutger Hauer was brilliant in the first movie.

Not only is it unconnected to Whedon, but also it's not involved with the canon of the TV series at all.

I give it 1 trailer to convince me.

No Whedon, no canon, NONE of the shows cast.

I sincerely hope it never gets made.

If it has no connection to the series they'd be insane to make it. What possible audience could it have? People who always scoffed at Buffy the T.V. series aren't going to turn around and take interest in a movie. A few fans of the show might go to see it out of curiosity, but the vast majority will stay away out of loyalty to the show. If it stinks the few who see it will kill it by word-of-mouth.

Uh, Twilight fans? That is a bit of a stretch though.
