DarkAvenger:
Guys, Golden Sun 3.
This news has made me really really excited.

JRPG fans shat themselves over Final Fantasy XI, but it was still an absolute dud.

I certainly wouldn't want to touch it with a ten-foot pole (and I am a JRPG fan), but it seems to have made them money hand over fist.

Hm, fair enough. It IS a MMORPG and yes, I'll never play XI. But anyway, Golden Sun 3 yay!

Keep in mind that I don't really intend for my post to imply that the sky is falling or anything. I'll get the game and I'll enjoy myself; there's no way Nintendo's going to let that baby out of the gate without it being a well-polished experience. I'm just hoping they don't cut out some of the solo exploration in lieu of making it into yet another game where you primarily run around blasting aliens alongside your cardboard cut out of a sidekick, while some helpful but superfluous lady babbles tips at you over a communicator, that's all. We'll come out ahead here, I'm just not so confident that I am joyfully leaping into the arms of a friend over the announcement.

Something about the Sony motion control struck a suspicious chord in me so I ran to my bookshelf, pulled out my Unofficial PS2 Launch Guide (December 2000) and looked at the page about the PS2's tech capabilities. In the bottom right corner of Page 24, under the heading of "NEW PS2 TECHNOLOGY," there are two pictures. In the top one, a man is looking at a television and waving a giant foam wand in front of a camera hooked up to a PS2. The bottom picture is a screencap of what he's doing; that is, it's a picture of a morningstar being wielded by invisible hands.
They've been prepping this technology for at least nine years and it was originally for a different console.
Blue Kitty:
I've been wondering this, who actually cares about motion controls?
