New Mechwarrior
Bastardous Bassist:
You see, none of that sounds fun to me. None. I would be glad if it went on in addition to a single player/multiplayer with friends game, but I just don't want to play MMOs because they are quite boring.
pilsner:
You could be Clan master, a hundred mechs and elementals at your command, ready, nay eager to spray electric death should you deign to unleash them on your enemies.
Alex C:
A MW mmo sounds cool in theory, but I think it'd be pretty shit in practice. Now, small scale competitive campaigns would be cool, and small scale unit to unit combat is actually the norm once you get outside the Inner Sphere and into Clan territories, but you don't need a full-fledged MMO to do that. In fact, persistent worlds make that kind of thing worse; do you want guys going AFK in the middle of push into Jade Falcon territory? Because if people are grinding away to get a hold of a shiny new PPC rather than feeling accountable to their sibko and pursuing a blood name, it will happen.
pilsner:
Oh most definitely it would happen. On the other hand, think about the joys of playing toward an awesome mech and taking on bunches of smaller less experienced mechs leaving nothing but small twisted blackened shards of metal. I'm not saying the game would be fun, I'm saying the griefing would be awesome.
In all seriousness, though, whether or not the MMO woulds suck (and I admit it probably would if only because virtually every MMO so far has sucked) it perplexes me that they are not pushing for it anyway. An MMO means a recurring revenue stream without pushing DLC. Not pushing for an MMO on any intellectually property that could support one seems like leaving money on the table.
Melodic:
Chromehounds is such a good game.
