[s]Bad[/s] Good News, Everyone!
KvP:
First episode was pretty okay. Second episode for the most part felt like a late-period Simpsons "it's a well-known story but with the Simpsons as characters" episode, and its ending was abrupt. I think Futurama's at its best when it sticks with a strong A plot. The second episode's A plot was all set up for the B plot, which was pretty boring.
StaedlerMars:
Not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed. I didn't really laugh at all throughout the two episodes, the jokes felt really obvious, and I'm not sure that I like the Fry & Leela being together thing.
Then again, I was expecting to be disappointed.
KvP:
I don't know, I think Futurama is pretty gutsy to go with the main characters together, what with it being such a legendarily bad move for most shows.
I guess it could also be read as foolhardy, given that, you know, technically their getting together was supposed to be the end of the show. The second episode certainly didn't take their relationship very seriously, which was another thing that made it feel pretty flimsy.
De_El:
I've only seen the first one so far, but in my viewing of it I was so excited to be watching new Futurama that I was almost entirely uncritical. It just seemed really goofy and self-aware. It wasn't very complex or surprising, but I didn't really require that of it.
Blue Kitty:
I liked the first one, especially the fact that Amy asked why their voices changed, but I didn't really like the second one. I blame Zap's cut aways every time he had to admit something.
