Freelance_Physicist:
Why is Dora doing payroll and other financial calculations by hand?

bunnyThor:

--- Quote from: kemon on 28 Jul 2009, 23:50 ---well, if the carry ended up being ten, then it could be considered carrying the zero while the one gets carried to the next column.  or transcribing a number from one column to another and lost the zero on the way.

Yeah, but if so, you still wouldn't carry the zero. You'd carry the 10. And if you are doing a column of numbers big enough that you would be carrying a 10 (minimum 12 rows deep, and on the average 23 rows deep) then you should be using a calculator, just to avoid silly mistakes. (Or as mentioned above, a computer.

For Dora to be doing all her finances with pencil and paper is at least 50 years behind the times...possibly more considering all the robots and space stations.

TryScience:
Maybe she does her accounting in binary?

Sebastian:
Would you trust a computer doing your finances after you have meet Pintsize? :)

Closer to 22.
