Dammit Blizzard.

I own three copies of the Starcraft battlechest too.

Man I came into here to shit all over your thread and lock it. How dare you post a quality link and ruin my fun.

Caleb:
I am sorry Trollstormur.  I know as a poster I have a hard earned reputation for lurking and posting mediocre to crap stuff.

In the future I will take your feelings into consideration and post something bad so you can mock me and assert your moderator power.

(I know that having electronic authority in this forum is the only thing that gets you through the day)

JediBendu:
Dude he praised your quality link and you're going to turn around and do him like that? That's not cool.

To be a little on topic though, that's some pretty funny stuff.

But I do believe Troll's wit was fenced off by wit in the same vein of sarcasm, and was thus served in this happenstance.
Alternatively, Caleb just didn't get the jibe.

Caleb:
Well guys, we all know that unofficially you have to 4 stars before you can post anything sarcastic on this forum so I MUST have been completely serious about what I posted.

On topic I am deeply saddened about the lack of games with LAN support that are coming out nowadays.

I know that during the past few gaming tournaments and classic video game days I have organized at the library we have had a ton of support for games like Starcraft and Counterstrike.  Playing against 4 or more friends in the same room being able to talk trash to each other is just a completely different situation than playing against people online by yourself.

I suppose you can still drag your computers to the same place (with internet connectivity) and log onto Battlenet and play against each other but I am going to assume that some people won't do this because it's just easier to keep your computer at home and play from there.  With LAN you had a reason to get a bunch of people together and you didn't have to go someplace that had internet access for all your computers.

I think the whole LAN party thing was a throwback to the social arcade experience of the past (which was dying when I was getting into my teens).

It's pretty sad because now there are going to be more kids whose gaming experience will only consist of sitting alone in their rooms playing against people they will never get to hang out with in real life.

Good going Blizzard.  Thanks for contributing to that.
