its been mentioned somewhere (i'm not sure where, or even if it was actually mentioned!) that jeph has no desire to break the fourth wall.

Good. I hate comics that break the fourth wall. You know a comic is going to be bad if the first strip is like "So, we're two guys sitting on a couch, no one will want to read this."
