SleeperCylon:
Les Paul was like Alexander Graham Bell?  You mean somebody else invented all that stuff and he bogarted the credit by getting the patent through faster?

I would've been seriously bummed if Jeph had NOT devoted the comic to Les Paul today. (The only question was whether the character doing the tribute would be Marten or Sven--or both.)

Vaya Con Dios, Mr. Paul.

True dat. After I learned of Les Paul's death and sat around thinking about him, I wondered what sort of tribute comic Jeph would make. It just seemed obvious he would. :)

No

I'm glad for the deviation. I was totally bummed when I found out Les Paul died....

nichidani:
i always assumed 'mar-bear' was pronounced like 'mare-bear', making it cute.

even 'mar-mar' would be 'mare-mare', which deviates it from dora and marten's babytalk, in that i assumed their's was 'mar', etc.

and i am a georgia girl myself, and if 'mar-bear' were pronounced unlike 'mare-bear', it would NOT rhyme just because of the accent, damnit. we don't pronounce 'bear' like 'bar' here.

oh and, i vote 'mar-bear'!
