"Literate" Lyrics...?

<< < (3/10) > >>

Inlander:
I highly recommend you check out Grand Salvo, which is the work of a Melbourne songwriter named Paddy Mann. He's just released an exquisite album entitled Soil Creatures. His previous album was entitled Death and was a song-cycle in the form of a children's story about a bird, a rat, a rabbit, a bear, and a hunter.

Josh Ritter!

If "To the Dogs or Whoever" isn't 'literate', I don't know what is.

Then again, I probably don't know, because I think Phil Collins is a talented songwriter too.

Carry on.

BeoPuppy:
I'll just say, once again, that Skyclad lyrics are actually quite yummie. I'd suggest Any Old Irony. You'll get the picture. Also: early Marillion. Fish was a good writer, once.

Zingoleb:
John Prine

Billy Joe Shaver

The Duke:
Elvis Costello.  I highly recommend you pick up his new album.  All of you.
