Musicians who committed suicide
Inlander:
Guns 'n' Roses took themselves way too seriously to be a proper hair-metal band.

--- Quote from: Zingoleb on 25 Aug 2009, 01:40 ---I've just heard people refer to them as a hair band and I never considered them in that light much until I heard others refer to them. I realized then that they do kind of sort of fit into that category. (And to be honest, just taking a look at them without hearing their music I would just go "Oh, hair band," and think nothing more of them. Same goes for Aerosmith)
--- End quote ---
It's funny because by the standards of the day Guns n' Roses were some dangerous motherfuckers and basically anathema to all of the hair bands, but by today's standards they're considered very hair, indeed.
Zingoleb:
Our standards today are always better than the standards of the past, obviously.
Alex C:
Yeah, it just seems odd to us because they really only distinguished themselves by small but significant degrees in terms of lyrics and subject matter. When bands like Motley Crue sang about getting high and going out on the town, they usually preferred to project a sense of invincibility. They may occasionally paint a nasty world but consequences were something for other people to worry about. Guns n' Roses acted like they already had a hangover.
KharBevNor:
I would rather listen to Twisted Sister or Motley Crue than Guns and Roses. I don't feel I need to defend this.
