Also if trance is anything like the other dance genres (it is I just googled it) then it probably has a great online community where people just post mixes up all over the shop. I recommend frequenting trance sites/forums where people swap mixes.

Any track by Mellefresh & Deadmau5 ('freshmau5') is a cracker. Some of his own stuff (Ghosts n Stuff) is wicked too, although there is a large material-to-really-good-material ratio :)

Jeez, I can't believe nobody listed Shpongle (side project of Hallucinogen and 1200 Mics, and kings of psybient).  All of their albums are great, but I think Tales of the Inexpressible is a good starting place.  Other good acts include:

Ott
