It's called a shinai, a wooden sword used in the sword-fighting style sport of kendo. For more info, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinai

Does bamboo count as a wood? Technically it is a grass, but I suppose that's academic if you get wacked in the face with it. It's made of OUCH either way.

Having had all three of those things flying at my head at various times (just not the same time), I'm surprised his glasses are intact.

Binary:
Hilarious comic, but it raises a question in my mind. When we were introduced to Marigold, she was indifferent to sharing her bedroom with feral rats. But a squirrel - essentially a rat with an Afro tail - is relentlessly hounded out of the apartment.

Is a spring-clean by Hannelore and a night out with the gang such a powerfully civilizing experience?
