Re: Greatest Album of the Decade Tournament, ROUND THREE

<< < (5/11) > >>

Dimmukane:
Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Low - Things We Lost In The Fire
Agalloch - The Mantle

LCD Soundsystem - The Sound of Silver
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Boris - Akuma No Ata
Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?

Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy
Isis - Panopticon
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Mogwai - Mr. Beast

On that note, I'm a little bummed that Dead Meadow and Black Moth Super Rainbow didn't make it further.  As far as this board goes, they're on the fringe, but still.

JD:

Man Soulwax would kick it's ass

Melodic:
How the fucking fuck does Transatlanticism lose to Agalloch? And Alive 2007 down to Mountain Goats. How the fucking fuck.

Radiohead - Kid A
Fugazi - The Argument

Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine
Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People

LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People

TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain
Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?

Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy
The Avalanches - Since I Left You

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Modest Mouse - The Moon And Antarctica

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You...

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Wolf Parade - Apologies To The Queen Mary

Discovery vs. Black Sheep Boy was hard, so was Broken Social Scene vs. The Moon And Antarctica (I chose Modest Mouse only because I already voted for You Forgot It In People), and Apologies To The Queen Mary vs. Mr. Beast (for the same reason, I chose Wolf Parade over Mogwai because of Happy Songs For Happy People).

De_El:
I wasn't paying a lot of attention to other people's votes so some of these are real surprises. Let's see...

Kid A (too bad about the Weakerthans)
The Argument (I didn't expect FF to beat the Books, but Fugazi was obv)

Things We Lost in the Fire
Arrrrg, I think I'm gonna come back to this one later. Tough choice. I'm glad The Mantle beat Transatlanticism though, I wasn't sure which way that one was going.

Goddamnit, why is it so hard to vote for All Hail West Texas. So much worthy competition!
You Forgot It in People (That one was easy. Would have been harder if Iron & Wine was still in.)

Akuma no Uta (similarly, Mclusky Do Dallas getting voted out made this an easier decision. I really don't feel TVOTR like I used to.)
Turn on the Bright Lights (nooooooo Silent Shouuuuuuuut)

Discovery
Since I Left You

Lift Yr. Skinny Fists
So I was all like, "Man eff that why the eff did Saturdays = Youth lose?" but I think now that I have reached this stage I will give The Moon and Antarctica a chance and see how it compares to BSS

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (man fuck that shit. no love for ES? YHF all the way)
I Am Not Afraid of You (yaaaaay, neither of the ones I wanted won)

Funeral
Apologies to the Queen Mary (owls guys, come on it was not hard)
