is that any good? I'm a huge Lovecraft fan but that game looked sort of mediocre and i never got around to checking it out.

I am a ways into the game and I REALLY liked the first bits.  There is a great scene before you get any weapons and there is a really cool segment.  Lets just say there is lots of running involved.

There is a truck ride segment that was truly HARD and unfun in every way.

When I got further into the game combat is pretty bad but unlike other reviews I have read it wasn't too horrible.

Like I would read in reviews how one section is completely impossible unless you did THIS and THIS but I would just be able to play it by ear and get stuff done.  I never felt the need to run away/ sneak past every single enemy.

(Please note I only read the walkthrough about a section AFTER I finished that section.  This is because I was so worried I missed a weapon or something.  You play so long without any weapons I figured I might have missed something.  My phobia about missing stuff stems from my first playthrough of Silent Hill 2 where I went through the ENTIRE GAME without finding the shotgun.  Somehow I missed it.  Since then I have always been paranoid about missing stuff in games.  which actually made Call of C more scary for me)

See, I never really had any problem with any combat in Call of Cthulhu, it felt like it was pretty polished for a game trying to make sure you were just a normal everyday scrub, and lik you I couldn't find any part of the game that I really that was overly hard or terible. Even the truck bit I got first time no problem.

It's just so good at making you feel as helpless as possible whlile not making it too hard that you don't want to continue trying to help your character get out alive despite the futility of the situation. Basically, it's just a fantastic Cathulhu game.

Also FF8 had not a single thing that was worth a shit outside of that fantastic card game. God I loved that card game so much.

I so want to play FF8 after reading this thread. Also Call of Cthulu was on my radar for playing (just got Arkham Asylum to see if I could handle its specs) but CoC is my next choice if I decide to game hard before I can afford Torchlight. Though I am doing a casual playthrough of Bioshock, but I have this major difficulty of doing any single thing on my computer that doesnt involve hefty amounts of FBing in the middle of.

Don't do it man.  It's not even worth playing "ironically".

My game is saved right before that last battle, but I can't seem to beat Sephiroth. I even went through all the trouble of getting the "Knights of the Round" materia. Still no dice.
