tinkerbell:

--- Quote from: BigUgly73 on 09 Nov 2009, 01:52 ---Uh, I don't count "Not tonight, I'm still kinda thrashed, maybe another night" as not giving the run around.

Some other time is always code for run around in my world.

--- End quote ---

I guess people would interpret it different ways. When I was younger and too scared to reject a guy outright I would say "some other time" a lot but they always believed I was actually being sincere and wanted to do something with them some other time.

I find that if you are genuinely interested in hanging out with a guy, the best way to make sure he knows you are not giving him the run around is to offer a different night to do something. Faye probably would have saved a lot of her freakout just then if she had thought to do that.

Mr_Rose:
Give her a moment, she's kinda out of practice.

Is it cold in here?:
This holds together and makes sense: the idea that Faye is sincere but doesn't have the experience to know what "maybe some other time" means (or maybe she never got a copy of the Girlese Code Book: my wife claims never to have gotten a copy herself).

Dora or Raven would have been better people to cheer on Faye's success, but Pennelope was way funnier.

The Duke:
I think Jeph is mocking us, because Faye's conversation with herself totally reminded me of the way we over-analyze stuff.

raoullefere:
I would agree with that if I hadn't sat around having this conversation with myself all too many times, only from the other end of things. (Did she really mean some other time, or was she giving me the brush-off? etc., etc.)

Actually, Faye is contrary enough that she probably wouldn't be exulting if Dora or Raven was doing it for her, but pointing out how unsuccessful she was. Also, Raven would have been hissing 'set another time, give him another time' in Faye's ear. Dora may have a sixth sense for sexy things, but Raven is the Datemaster.

I actually saw, or think I saw, the Girlese Code Book once. Next thing I knew, I was waking up with a helluva headache and a knot on the back of my head. Saw the Great Tome of Manlaw once, too, but for some reason every page had had enough beer spilled on it that it was illegible. Or maybe that was just how it was written.
