it's kind of a sideways offshoot of southern rap, i think? hyper-druggy, semi-conscious, but still concerned with wordplay, just not as concerned with speed. and repetition plays heavily into it in ways that like have been used in other forms to decent effect. but it's really distant from trad east/west coast-style hip hop in terms of flow & approach so there's a lot of ways where if that's your speed of rap you might have a hard time figuring out what's decent about something as kind of... monotone? as lil b.

I saw a thing on TV about this dude last night, and really..I mean..stuff like Soulja Boy, seems like it requires minimal effort. With Lil B, it seems like he was actually phoning in the minimal effort. Seemed like a rad dude though. Just not very good at music and rappin'.
