The Least Offensive Music in the World
pilsner:
Simple challenge: find a song that every regular on the forum likes listening to. Not loves necessarily, mind you, likes. That means everyone gets veto over every song. I think a lot of people just stay out of threads that don't interest them rather than contributing the always unhelpful: "Well I think that sounds like shit, what the fuck is wrong with you," so I'm curious if there is any point of convergence in the bizarre ven diagram that is our communal musical tastes.
Also: you don't need to explain why you don't like a song, if you don't like just say so. But hey, go ahead and explain if you want to get it off your chest. There is no bad reason for disliking a song, bad association or overlistening are OK.
Also, also: Bonus points if the song isn't by one of the following bands: The Beatles, Joy Division, the Pixies, and Radiohead.

Maybe some Bowie song of Spiders from Mars?
Haven't met anyone who didn't like that album
this one?
A Wet Helmet:
According to a professor of mine, the following song is the single best example of poetry in the English language based on the criteria we was going to spend the next nine weeks teaching the class. It is understandable, cathartic, has common emotional ties everybody can relate to, and a whole host of other shit that I didn't really pay attention to.

I don't think I've met anyone who disliked Johnny Cash.
Also, I bet something like Miles Davis or Beethoven would do well in this kind of thing - just because people are often afraid to express their dislike of jazz or classical out of fear they'll appear uncultured.
