The whinnying is probably Dora biting her lip when she'd rather be screaming...
Some of that eggcrate foam soundproofing on the bedroom walls should do the trick nicely...

On a more obvious note: I'm thinking this is going to mean exactly what Faye mentions in panel four - she's gonna end up moving in with them.
...and all SORTS of hijinks will ensue with Mieville vs. Pintsize, Mieville vs. Faye, Mieville vs. Hannelore, Pintsize vs. Dora...
