Man to be honest that sounds like a gigantic dick move on his part - if you're playing at an open mic night, you don't get to be such a fucking prima donna that you essentially storm off stage thanks to a bit of feedback. Running sound is hard enough at the best of times, but open mics are the worst because you're dealing with so many different people playing different instruments at different volumes that you're bound to run into some trouble. I guess the best you can do in that situation is do everything you can to quickly fix it, but what he should do is just suck it up and weather on through.

it sucks to feel like someone tanked and you were somehow possibly culpable. no real way around it. if you know you weren't at fault that'll help a bit but not much you can do about the parts it doesn't help.

I've done just enough sound work to understand exactly how frustrating that is.

The past few weeks of stress over a bunch of personal and job issues has had me getting dizzy spells if I'm not eating and drinking water basically continuously all day. Maybe I should see a doctor about this.

Fuck that guy, that is only a move you make if you WANT somebody to feel shitty about their job working the panel. It's part of the musicians' version of the Bro Code. An unspoken, unbreakable rule of thumb is that you don't just give up on the dude working with you without so much as putting a lick of effort in.
