Apple Declares War on Boobs
KvP:
This isn't a new thing. Apple fucks around with all kind of app content, completely arbitrarily. Fuck 'em.

Wouldnt it be 100% shitty if Xbox Live! Arcade was plastered with crappy quality porn? Have these apps lessens the quality of the experience, the content is still readily available so it absolutely doesnt have to be that way.

Most of it is vibrator apps for the controllers.
I ain't feel any worse about my XBox and MS isn't stopping it.
David_Dovey:
Did you guys read the article?
Apple already had rules which seemed rational if not already tough, these new rules are basically banning anything which is even remotely considered to have sexual content or could be seen as arousing i.e; an incredibly vague and capricious and brings to mind the US Supreme Court's "I know it when I see it" declaration.
So your speculation re:
--- Quote from: Chesire Cat on 21 Feb 2010, 19:14 ---I withhold judgement until we see a final rule set, if in the end all it really affects are titty apps then I am 100% for it, if it has broad ramifications (lets say a fictional mobile version of Bayonetta was also banned)

has already been answered. There's no way that something like Bayonetta would make it, if there is a blanket ban on depictions of swimsuits regardless of context Also:
--- Quote ---Apple also removed one that featured a popular fitness model in her workout clothes (the app was a marketing vehicle for the athlete’s line of protein powder).

Who's still fucking stoked on the iPad
Chesire Cat:
I read the article, and the spirit of the policy seems pretty cut and dry. It sounds like it is going through growing pains while they figure out how exactly to apply it. I wouldnt be surprised if they un-remove some apps.
Even if publicly it has gone 'live' they havent issued specific requirements yet, and internally they still seem to be working out the kinks. If 25 years of existence has taught me anything its the virtues of patience. Seriously, see where this goes. People are coming off a little bit evening news about it and well and the iPad in general, like "Apples new product the iPad does not come with any support for Adobe Flash Media Player. Do to Apples policies your kids might not being using Flash even as we speak!".
But at the end of the day, I 100% support Apples right to enforce its own policies on its own product. These people didnt buy a spot on Apples distribution network, they dont own the right to this service. They had a privilege someone gave them and now they dont. And fuck 'precedent', this isnt the government, this isnt a court of law, this is a Corporation who owns the rights to its products and services. The founding idea behind capitalism is that it is in a companies own best interest to give the people what they want, but it isnt a requirement.
*edit*
I am stoked on the idea of the iPad, but since a large portion of the time I would use it is to/from work riding on the metro where there is no 3G support with my carrier. I think I will wait until they add antennas to allow support in the metro like other phone carriers. In this time, Apple may come out with a second revision which will likely feature improvements on it.
