Jeph has said before in relation to another character that he'd consider an unplanned pregnancy to be far more soap opera-like than he wants his strip to be.

But if she were, we could blame 673 if we ignored that it was a guest strip.

Of course he could have an unplanned pregnancy followed up by a miscarriage. But no sane webcomic artist would dream of running a story arc as tasteless as that...
