That NYC Thang
Joseph:
Didn't get the job. Have we set concrete dates for this yet?
ackblom12:
Unless people can agree on wanting to change it, it's currently scheduled for July 30 - Aug 2.
ackblom12:
Alright, we really should look at accomodations. Kat and I will be taking a look over the next few days. We were considering the possibility of doing like we did in Chicago and renting an apartment for the weekend, but with our turnout this year being cut in half at the least, the $1600 for that (If we can find it again) is not gonna be manageable I think.
If any natives have any suggestions for cheapish hotels for NYC we'd be grateful since we need to get these reserved sometime soon. Thus far, this is a decent list we've found.
Hotel listing. No. 3, the Cosmopolitan, is what I was looking at sepcifically, but several of them seem to have some decent prices for NYC.
calenlass:
Hoorj it will be like a real con!
Metope:
Whatever you do, do NOT stay at the Chelsea Spot Hostel
I mean, unless you want to experience
- long, black hairs and stains on your sheets
- plastic mattresses and inflatable pillows in rickety bunk beds especially designed for discomfort
- staff that talks loudly throughout the entire night right outside your dorm and then hits on you when you complain the next day
- seeing rats
- having everything you at some point used also be broken at some point. This includes: Toilets, showers, hot water/heating in general (I guess the air con breaks during summer or something), floor (!), coffee maker, computers, wifi
- scary neurotic roommates that keeps you up all night polishing their shoes in bed
Oh, and we later found out it's run semi-illegally somehow. It was cheap though.
