They were pointing out the similarities between Digimon and Pokémon, I think.

It took a bit of self restraint to not point out that they were digimon, I'm not gonna lie.

I remember watching cartoons as a kid and thinking Digimon was way more personal feeling to me that Pokemon ever could be, because you got one digimon, a counterpart to yourself, as opposed to trying to catch 150 of them or some bullshit. Then the second season came out and I thought "well this is shit" and went on to the next show, Big bad Beetle Borgs, which in turn was a ripoff of Power Rangers.

It does look a lot like Gengar though

Yeah, those are the only two from both series that look even remotely alike, but only because they are orange dino-like creatures. I mean, I watched both series for a while and enjoyed both, but really, they aren't that similar other than there are kids that have pet-like critters that fight other critters.
