No, no, NO. It's "Aayyyyyyyy."

Geez. You outsiders can't speak it without an accent.

Correctomundo!

(Still can't believe I actually watched that drivel. I must've been insa—wait, I was a child. Of course, I was insane. All children are.)

--- Quote from: ndperfesser on 08 May 2010, 23:21 ---Ah, but you are measuring California cool, a thin and insubstantial source. Up here in the northern plains, we harvest the cold during 40 below winter days and recycle it as cool throughout the year. Fonzie, a good Milwaukee boy, ran through more than 10 pounds a year all by himself.

--- End quote ---
I've listened to and read far too much of Garrison Keillor, not to mention listened to too many hours of Whad'ya Know?, to begin to swallow this.

Lyrical:

--- Quote from: Carl-E on 06 May 2010, 17:45 ---Other than foreign, they DO follow the "sounding like A" part of the rule.  In fact, neighbor and weigh are in the little rhyme...

--- End quote ---
Here are a few other exceptions to the rule: either, eider, ageing, protein, and absenteeism.  I'm sure there are a lot more!

Lyrical:

--- Quote from: Is it cold in here? on 04 May 2010, 20:53 ---What does it mean that Winslow is apparently asexual?
--- End quote ---
I don't remember which comic strip it was in, but Winslow yelled at the Roomba for trying to move in on "his" girl (Hanners), and he took over the robot boyfriend body that her dad sent her when she decided to experiment.  He's just not as rude about it as Pintsize.

Is it cold in here?:
Come to think of it, there was that one line when he was in the boyfriendbot body about wanting to grab things.
