Moxie:
--- Quote from: zagraf on 04 May 2010, 01:39 ---Am I the only one who thinks that what Faye's doing to Momo--who, like the other AnthroPCs, is a sentient being with feelings and not a toy--is really assholish behaviour? And then, in the last panel, she dares to tell Sven to "stop that," when his "Boo" was nothing compared to what she's doing? I've just lost a lot of respect for Faye. :x
--- End quote ---
--- Quote from: akronnick on 04 May 2010, 03:28 ---Become?
Faye's got a mean streak down her back a mile wide, and she always has.
--- End quote ---
--- Quote from: LTK on 04 May 2010, 03:35 ---I've mentioned this before, but Faye's experience with AnthroPCs comes just from Pintsize. And you know Pintsize. So there is no reason for her to have any respect for artificial intelligence.
--- End quote ---
No, I agree that Faye has repeatedly acted inconsiderately towards Momo. And regardless of her interactions with Pintsize, she's now had interactions with Momo and learned a little bit about what Momo expects, so to act like that towards her now really indicates her mean, bullying streak.
--- Quote from: raoullefere on 04 May 2010, 01:52 ---And, no, Sven doesn't deserve a break about the subject until he actually shows he's changed, and moping in a bar doesn't exactly scream change to me—it could just as easily mean "poor me, I feel bad, and I don't know why."
--- End quote ---
At least with the "poor me" stuff it is possible he is trying to figure stuff out. He very well could just be moping, it is true and probably more likely, but there is the chance that it is growth.
--- Quote from: LeeC on 04 May 2010, 02:25 --- and I think in the same situation I would have done the same thing as sven.
--- End quote ---
Me too, LeeC. Me too. And really, just because. It's not that often you run into a person who apparently can't respond at all, so you just want to trysomething to know if that works. I thought Sven took it easy on her, actually.
--- Quote from: LTK on 04 May 2010, 03:35 ---Sven, on the other hand, went from *crazy bitch victim* to *being a dick* in the space of, uh, maybe five minutes. Marigold is obviously still embarassed as hell that she just took some guy's book like that, Sven could at least try to tell her "No hard feelings" or something.
--- End quote ---
I really think he was trying to (with the whole "I'm glad you didn't drop it or throw it away") and he did tell her thank you and he quite possibly could have been getting to the "no hard feelings" part of it, but she was just standing there. Kinda unresponsive to his words. Looking terrified. Sure it wasn't nice, but like I said, probably was something I would do to. You don't really expect someone to look terrified when you're trying to thank them for something. So is she actually listening? He tested that.
Beaten by Nuns:
I actually think that when Sven and Marigold finally get to know each other that they will find out that they already know each other - Think back to comic # 1424, It is hinted that Sven spent most of his time after the breakup with Faye sitting around playing World of Warcraft and sleeping. He managed to write one song, but it implies that he is an avid Warcraft player. It isn't a huge stretch to think that they might already know each other through the online game alone - Hell, they could be a part of the same guild and not even know it.
If not - at least they have something in common that they could talk about.
MegaLexi:
--- Quote from: Tuitsuro on 04 May 2010, 04:19 ---Hah! First two panels are another homage to Azumanga Daioh, aren't they! :P
Also, Marigold running away from Sven's boo is cute as hell.
--- End quote ---
Oh god damn it, you beat me. It does strike me as funny that Momo would be preprogrammed for AzuDai poses when tossed in the air. I was half-wondering if she was going to pull a Kagura there for a minute.
Edit: As for her size, would it really surprise any of you if Marigold had a super-small spare body for Momo lying around somewhere for ease of portability? It's like the AnthroPC equivalent of a netbook or something, except it's tossable and has a built-in tazer.
GG Crono:
This is what popped into my head upon seeing the last panel.
Is it cold in here?:
--- Quote from: Zagraf ---Am I the only one who thinks that what Faye's doing to Momo--who, like the other AnthroPCs, is a sentient being with feelings and not a toy--is really assholish behaviour?
--- End quote ---
That bothered me too. Even if Momo-tan were a toy, she'd be someone else's toy.
--- Quote from: Raoullefere ---Having to be Sven's 'keeper,' taking responsibility because he won't, is enough to make anyone edgy, to say the least—hence the blow-up a few comics before the one I linked to. Want any more proof? His thought is never "I might hurt someone," is it? It's "Dora's going to kill me." Christ, Sven lets his sister be his conscience. After all, why should he have do that job?
--- End quote ---
+4 Insightful.
--- Quote from: Dllessmgg ---Did anyone else notice that Sven might have shrinking powers? I mean, why is Marigold one head shorter in the last panel? Hiding behind Faye can't do that much.
--- End quote ---
Marigold is a shrinking violet.
--- Quote from: Tomart ---I used to throw my children up in the air and catch them; they liked it.
--- End quote ---
It's different in this case: your children were enjoying it, whereas Momo-tan did not seem happy at all.
--- Quote from: Zagraf ---Leaving aside the fact that Momo isn't a child (she looks like one, but clearly has an adult's intelligence),
--- End quote ---
Adult intelligence for sure, and capable of taking charge of a situation, but considering the arc where she played WoW for Marigold, she was not acting particularly mature.
--- Quote from: MegaLexi ---As for her size, would it really surprise any of you if Marigold had a super-small spare body for Momo lying around somewhere for ease of portability? It's like the AnthroPC equivalent of a netbook or something
--- End quote ---
I like this! Momo seems to be a top-of-the-line model, it would make perfect sense that she'd come with accessories such as a compact chassis.
