I keep my acoustic in one room, my electric in another. Am I depriving them, or saving myself?
--- Quote from: akronnick on 18 May 2010, 01:52 ---Does anyone else think that Faye is just searching for reasons to not come out of her comfort zone at this point?
Of course the whole Sven situation was a setback, but in a way, she really went out of her way to keep him as emotionally distant as possible. It was as if she used sex to prevent making an emotional connection with Sven. Before they hooked up, they were on the path to become pretty close friends, even as they were antagonizing each other. Did Faye start a physical relationship to derail the feelings that she and Sven were developing?
I also think that Faye is the type of person who (like me) is afraid to pursue what they really want, not because they are afraid they will fail, but that they are afraid they will succeed.
If Faye and Angus begin a genuine romantic relationship, Faye will no longer be able to hide in her little (emotional) cave, whatever happens, things will be different, and that frightens her. (It scares the shit out of me!)

Correctamundo!* (Although I wouldn't deprive Sven of his part in letting the relationship deteriorate into sex-sessions)
*And by the way, whoever it was that resurrected my inner Fonz, thanks awfully. Care to explain how to shut him up now? Ayyyy! Oh, for Christsakes.
Carl-E:
In true Fonz fashion, one swift WAP with the heel of the palm, applied judiciously to the left temple, should do the trick...
westrim:
Not the Sven/ Faye blame apportionment, nooooo! Why do people keep bringing that up, all it leads to is pain and flames.
As for Fonzarelli, just jump over a shark a few times and the audience will take care of canceling him for you.

Step 1: Find a shark.
Step 2: Jump over it.
DONE.
You're welcome.
Not just the recent arc but today's strip in particular is very classic QC, with that sort of bittersweet/snarky/silly thing happening. Me like. Although I gotta say that panel 1 is cracking me up a little bit more than panel 4 here, exclusively because of Mieville still clinging to Pintsize's foot. Determined kitteh is determined.
Edit: Bah! Ninja'd by westrim! Meh, I'm posting it anyway.
Carl-E:
No, no, that show died loooong before any shark was jumped.
That was just nailing the coffin shut.
Panel 1 was cute with Mieville, but I thought the human part was weird - Faye asking Marten for... what, permission? Approval? And in such a roundabout way - "would you be pissed..." I mean, what was she expecting? He'd be pissed with her for dating when he's happily dating someone else? Or pissed with her for dating Angus, whom he specifically checked out for her back when awkwardness was defeated? I mean, where did that come from?
She's a master of projection, our Faye. (mistress of projection sounds like a dominatrix who works in a movie theatre...) She's really reaching for a reason to not go there, I think something more is bothering her.
I think the comfort zone thing is a big part of it, but this girl is more self-sabatoging than anything. She put her shields halfway up this time, let them be partially breached, and now she's asking if she should lower them. It's a done decision, Faye. Stop asking if it's right!
Marigold will recover. Try treating her like an adult instead of rewrapping the cocoon, and she'll be fine. She know all along anyway. Let her deal with her self-deceptions, and you deal with yours!
God, I've got to stop talking in the second person to these comics...
