Four Lions, a comedy about modern Jihadism

You're right, "all about brutality" was much too simplifying. Brutality is there as a driving force though, like in this supremely nasty moment, but even otherwise harsh moments like the baby reanimated by a plumber with metal piping and steam are complicated by compassion. There's definitely a compulsion to drag the viewer through the mire though, I remember when it was first shown laughing much more when talking with people about it the next day than I did when actually watching it.

I'm still angry the advertised Q&A was via fucking satalite. Not live as the adverts implied. But it was introduced by Charlie brooker & had the 'Four Lions' there as well. Fortunately the questions asked were fairly interesting. As for the film I felt it was pitch perfect & enjoyed the slapstick all the way through. It had a Coogan-esque quality about it. I thought the humanity was incredible & the acting flawless.

Nathan Barley was special because no-one had poked fun of those twats in what could be called mainstream media. Now there are thousand of blogs set up to mock people like that. It might be a soft target, but no one had really attacked it before, so in that sense he is still breaking ground, all be it soft easy ground.
