I had to put the book down and go get a glass of water. It felt like the world had gone turvy-topsy. All of a sudden, everyone was at risk. It was the moment when I realized this was really the end.

Yeah I couldn't believe she did that. I thought that was probably the most shocking death of the book, and like Linds, I remember having to read it several times to understand what actually happened.

Barmymoo:
What gets me is that people still think this is a kids' series. I was what, seventeen, and I cried at every death and will probably cry buckets at the film. Seven year olds are going to be traumatised for life.

look out! Ninjas!:
I was nine when I read the first few, and seventeen when I finished. Books followed that path.
